Visiting Koh Thalu
A short boat ride gets you to Koh Thalu, a small island with clear, shallow water and enough going on to fill a half day without it feeling rushed. The water’s calm enough most of the year that this is a proper outing rather than something to just tick off the list.

Snorkelling gear is included on every trip — masks, fins, life vests — so you don’t need to bring anything beyond a towel and sun cream. The reef sits in shallow water close to shore, with reef fish you’ll see in numbers rather than the occasional fish darting past.

For families, there’s a guided snorkelling option aimed at kids, with smaller gear and someone in the water with them the whole time. For groups — work trips, stag and hen groups — there’s also a supervised boat-jumping setup and a guided group activity in the water, leaning more towards a fun afternoon than a quiet swim.

If you want to get above the water instead, there’s a short hike on the island up to a viewpoint over the gulf. Steep enough to be worth the effort, not so steep it needs proper hiking boots.
